Texas Special Election Just Got Called – Close Runoff Race Ends Up In The Hands Of Republican Ellzey

Gov. Greg Abbott, a fellow Republican, said in a statement that Ellzey will be “a strong and effective leader for the people of North Texas.”…

Ellzey did not try to distance himself from Trump and instead sought to overcome the lack of Trump’s backing by raising more money and showing off other endorsements, including the support of former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the Associated Press reported.

Although he did not get a nod from Trump, Republican Jake Ellzey won the race for Texas’s 6^th Congressional District.

This gives Republicans yet another member of Congress and closes Pelosi’s majority even further.

For years, we’ve heard that Democrats have been pushing Texas to the left. If such a strong, conservative state should fold, the rest of the country would topple like dominos.

But that’s not what we’ve been seeing. Numerous special elections in recent months have shown that even once blue areas of the state are turning red.

Regions with large Hispanic populations are rejecting Democratic candidates and voting for Republicans. In some cases, for the very first time.

Every seat in the House is crucial. Even though North Texas is often considered reliably red, Democrats continue to try to make inroads.

For a Republican to secure this seat, after the unexpected death of the previous holder, shows that Democrats aren’t as influential in Texas as they thought.

Perhaps this speaks more of just the Lone Star State? Right now, California is preparing for a historic recall election. Could this trend continue, even on the West Coast?
