Hours After Schumer Dares Republicans – The GOP Calls Chuck’s Bluff, Blocks Democrat Debt Limit Bill

What’s Happening:

Democrats are determined to force their socialist agenda onto the country. But they don’t want to get their hands dirty all by themselves. They are actually trying to force Republicans to go along with their debt limit increase, so Biden can spend over $3.5 trillion.

Republicans in the Senate warned Democrats they would not support a bill to extend the debt ceiling. Democrats are in charge of Congress, let them do it themselves. Schumer, as usual, rejected Republicans’ warnings and put the debt ceiling increase in the government funding bill.

But that didn’t deter Republicans from calling his bluff.

From Daily Mail:

Republicans on Monday blocked a short term resolution to stave off a government shutdown because Democrats included language that raises the debt ceiling…

‘The Democrats have known is a nonstarter for more than two months,’ Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell said of the debt limit provision shortly before the vote…

We ‘have a clean CR that could pass today,’ McConnell noted. ‘It would keep the government open.’

Republicans refused to vote for a bill that would keep the government open, and raise the debt ceiling. Mitch McConnell frequently called for a “clean” bill that only funded the government. Schumer refused, so Republicans struck back.

Democrats don’t seem capable of working with or even respecting Republicans’ concerns. Every time they get power, the left proves they cannot be trusted. For people who call themselves “Democrats,” they truly hate democratic principles.

Schumer thought he could strongarm Republicans by tying the debt ceiling bill with the “continued resolution” (i.e.: funding for the government). But Republicans refused to be bullies. All that Democrats have to do is put forward a bill, by Thursday, that just funds the government.

Will they do it?

It’s hard to say. Democrats these days seem to hate working with Republicans. They dig in their heels, refusing to show even a shred of consideration for the other side. But if they don’t provide McConnell’s “clean CR,” a variety of problems could happen.

The government will shut down, for starters. If Democrats can’t extend the debt ceiling, the government might further be unable to pay its bills. That’s largely thanks to Democrats in the first place, who can’t stop themselves from spending our money.

What will that mean for Americans? It’s hard to say. I’m sure more than a few of you wouldn’t mind seeing the government shut down (it had shut down before under Obama and Trump). But if the country defaults, there’s no telling what will come next.
